Highway Bureau Announcement
Due to inner wheel differences and blind spots during turns, large vehicles are often the main cause of traffic accidents. To ensure the safety of road users, the driving vision assistance system can reduce accident rates. The Ministry of Transport facilitated the amendment of traffic safety regulations and announced the revision of Article 39-1 of the Road Traffic Safety Rules on August 30, 2017. Starting January 1, 2020, buses and large trucks must include the driving vision assistance system as part of the regular inspection. Vehicles with a license plate must be equipped with a driving vision assistance system (four-channel driving recorder) starting from January 1, 2020.
If the driving vision assistance system is not installed, the fine can be as high as NT$24,000. If the system is malfunctioning but the vehicle is still on the road, the driver will be fined NT$9,000 to NT$10,000.
